Communications minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed Rajya Sabha that in order to revive the public sector units BSNL and MTNL, the VRS scheme as initiated by the government has received an encouraging response by 79,000 employees of BSNL and 14,000 out of 20,000 employees of MTNL who have applied for the same.
